A crown is a cap that surrounds the whole tooth to restore its strength and shape; a bridge is a fixed restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth by resting on the neighbouring ones. We use metal-free materials (zirconia and E.max) with fully digital fabrication.

When do you need a crown?

  • A root-treated tooth (especially molars).
  • A large fracture or a filling covering more than half the tooth.
  • Severe wear or cracks.
  • A discoloured tooth that veneers can't fix.
  • On an implant to replace a missing tooth.

The procedure

  1. 01Exam, X-rays and treatment of any decay or nerve first.
  2. 02Tooth preparation and a 3D digital scan — no impression paste.
  3. 03A temporary crown protects the tooth during fabrication.
  4. 04Digital design and milling in the lab within 5–7 days.
  5. 05Try-in, shade and bite adjustment, and final cementation.

Bridge or implant?

A bridge requires grinding the two neighbouring teeth to carry it, and it doesn't stop bone loss where the tooth is missing. An implant replaces the root itself and preserves the adjacent teeth, so we recommend it first whenever the case allows.

Caring for restorations

Floss under bridges daily (with a floss threader or water flosser), avoid biting hard objects, and have a check-up every 6 months to check the margins and gums.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A crown covers the whole tooth and suits weakened or root-treated teeth. A veneer covers only the front surface and suits healthy teeth that need a cosmetic improvement.

Zirconia or E.max?

Zirconia is stronger and suits molars and bridges. E.max is more translucent and beautiful, ideal for front teeth. We also offer a German glass-ceramic in the same lithium-silicate class as E.max, with the same natural look at a lower price from 7,000 EGP.

Bridge or implant for a missing tooth?

An implant preserves the neighbouring teeth and the bone; a bridge is faster and cheaper but requires grinding the two adjacent teeth. We discuss both after the exam.

How long does a crown last?

10–15 years on average, longer with good care.

Will a dark line show at the gum?

Not with zirconia or E.max — they contain no metal. The dark line appears with old porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.
