Gum disease treatment

Gums are the foundation of the teeth: more than half of adult tooth loss is caused by gum disease, not decay. We treat gum problems at their early, simple stages and use lasers for disinfection and cosmetic contouring without conventional surgery.

What we treat

  • Gingivitis: redness, bleeding and swelling — treated with cleaning and home-care coaching.
  • Periodontitis (pockets): bone loss around the teeth — deep root cleaning with laser disinfection.
  • Gum recession: exposed roots and sensitivity — gum grafting.
  • Gummy smile: excess gum on smiling — laser contouring.
  • Dark gum pigmentation: laser removal in one visit.
  • Gum abscess: drainage and treatment of the cause.

Deep cleaning (scaling and root planing)

  1. 01Pocket-depth measurement and X-rays to assess the bone.
  2. 02Ultrasonic removal of tartar above and below the gum line.
  3. 03Root smoothing and laser disinfection of the pockets.
  4. 04Home-care instructions and re-evaluation after 6 weeks.

Laser gum aesthetics

In a 30-minute visit we reshape the gum line for symmetry, or remove dark pigmentation caused by smoking or genetics. The result is immediate and healing takes about a week. Often combined with a Hollywood Smile for a complete result.

Frequently asked questions

Why do my gums bleed when I brush?

Usually gingivitis from plaque and tartar build-up. Bleeding stops within a week of a professional clean and correct home care.

Do receding gums grow back?

Receded gum doesn't regrow on its own, but it can be restored with a minor gum graft, or its progression stopped with treatment.

What is a gummy smile?

When a large band of gum shows on smiling. It's corrected with laser gum contouring in one visit, or with Botox or orthodontics depending on the cause.

Is laser gum depigmentation painful?

No — it's done under light local anaesthesia and the gum heals within a week to a natural pink.

Does diabetes affect the gums?

Yes, diabetics are more prone to severe gum disease and need cleaning every 3–4 months with closer follow-up.
